MassHealth is the Massachusetts version of federal Medicaid. It is a public health insurance program for low- and medium-income residents who meet other eligibility requirements.
There are income- and asset-level requirements for Medicaid.
With the troubled economy and the increase in cost of living, senior citizens are worried about qualifying for Medicaid benefits. More people want to stay in their homes but are not sure if they could afford long-term care if it became necessary. Others want to be able to leave homes and assets to their loved ones and wonder if they will meet the low requirement levels.
Planning for Medicaid is a wise decision, and the elder law attorneys at Perry, Krumsiek & Jack can help. We will work to protect as much of your asset base as possible while making you eligible for Medicaid. If your income or assets are too high, we know of available protection strategies to selectively reduce your levels to meet the qualifications.
